چکیده

Determination of blood glucose level is a frequently occurring procedure in diabetes care. As the most common method involves collecting blood drops for chemical analysis, it is invasive and liable to afflict a degree of pain and cause a skin injury. To eliminate these disadvantages, this thesis focuses on pulsed photoacoustic techniques, which have potential ability in non-invasive blood glucose

Photoacoustic blood glucose and tissue measurements based on optical scattering effect

Non-invasive blood glucose determination has been investigated by more than 100 research groups all over the world during the past fifteen years. Many measurement methods are based on the capacity of near-infrared light to penetrate a few millimetres into human tissue where it interacts with glucose. A change of glucose concentration may change the optical parameters in tissue, with the result ...

Non-invasive Optical Techniques for determination of blood Glucose levels: A Review Article

This article reviews the development of non-invasive optical techniques for determination of blood glucose concentrations in diabetic patients. Early diagnosis and daily management are essential for ensuring the healthy life of diabetic patients. The determination of blood glucose concentration with common devices involves the chemical analysis of blood samples, which are obtained by pricking t...

The advantage of using a diode laser instead of a Q-switched laser in photoacoustic imaging of tissues

Photoacoustic (PA) imaging of biological tissues using laser diodes instead of conventional Q switched pulsed systems provides an attractive alternative for biomedical applications. However, the relatively low energy of laser diodes operating in the pulsed regime, results in generation of very weak acoustic waves, and low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the detected signals. This problem can be ...

Use of a pulsed fibre laser as an excitation source for photoacoustic tomography

The use of a pulsed fibre laser as an excitation source for photoacoustic tomography has been investigated. Fibre lasers have the advantage of being compact, robust and efficient compared to traditional excitation sources used for photoacoustic tomography (e.g. Q-switched Nd:YAG pumped OPO or dye systems). Their high pulse repetition frequencies and adjustable pulse duration, shape and duty cyc...
